Al-Saqqaf from Jaber Border Crossing: Developing Border Duty-Free Markets Is a True Lever for the National Economy
In line with the new vision of the current Board of Directors of the Jordan Duty Free Shops Company, and within the framework of a hands-on follow-up approach and strengthening administrative presence in the field, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Duty Free Shops Company, Ms. Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, conducted an inspection visit today to the duty-free markets at the Jaber Border Crossing between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Syrian Arab Republic. She was accompanied by a number of company department directors. During the visit, she reviewed firsthand the workflow as well as all operational and commercial aspects of the market.
During the tour, Al-Saqqaf followed up on the level of procedures in place to provide the best possible services to travelers and visitors. She assessed the readiness of the facilities, the quality of services provided, and the operational mechanisms applied. She also directed those concerned that the current Board of Directors has a work strategy aimed at enhancing and developing the shopping experience, modernizing display methods, and raising operational efficiency in line with the best global practices applied in the duty-free sector.
Al-Saqqaf emphasized that the duty-free outlet at the Jaber Border Crossing represents a strategic and pivotal location within the company’s network of markets spread across land and sea crossings, given its vital role in serving passenger movement and stimulating cross-border trade.
She further stressed the importance of developing the infrastructure of duty-free markets and diversifying the range of products offered to meet the needs of different tastes and nationalities, in a manner that enhances the regional competitiveness of Jordanian duty-free markets.
Al-Saqqaf explained that the Jordan Duty Free Shops Company makes a clear contribution to supporting the national economy, and from this standpoint, it is essential to focus on its development, care, and preservation. She added that prioritizing and developing this sector is in line with and responsive to the Royal directives supporting vital economic sectors, with the aim of achieving sustainable development in Jordan.
She also expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the staff working at the duty-free markets at the Jaber Border Crossing, affirming that human capital constitutes the cornerstone of improving performance and achieving the company’s objectives. In addition, she extended her thanks to the security, customs, and administrative authorities present at Jaber Border for their positive cooperation with the market, describing it as one of the most important and effective forms of institutional integration.
